Pacers make early splash by agreeing to 2-year, $45 million deal with Bruce Brown, source says

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Bruce Brown Jr. is leaving the NBA champion Denver Nuggets for a two-year, $45 million deal with the Indiana Pacers, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on Friday. The person requested anonymity because the deal has not yet been announced publicly and said the deal includes a team option for the second year.Brown started 31 games and was a key contributor in the playoffs for the Nuggets last season. He averaged 11.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists during the regular season.Denver wanted to keep Brown, but was prevented by salary cap rules from offering a deal anywhere near the one the Pacers offered. Indiana was trying to get younger and better defensively on the perimeter before last week’s NBA draft. But trading partners wanted Indiana’s No. 7 overall pick — something the Pacers were unwilling to do.Instead, they made a rare early splash in free agency by adding the 26-year-old Brown to a young, emerging roster led by A...

DALLAS (AP) — Kyrie Irving wants to run it back with Luka Doncic. The enigmatic guard and the Dallas Mavericks agreed Friday on a $126 million, three-year contract in the opening hour of NBA free agency, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because contracts can’t be signed until Thursday. The Mavericks paired All-Star starters for the first time in franchise history by adding Irving in a blockbuster deal with Brooklyn last February, but stumbled down the stretch to miss the playoffs for the first time since Doncic was a rookie in 2018-19.Dallas was in the middle of the postseason chase when Irving joined the club, but the eight-time All-Star and Doncic, a four-time choice, were just 5-11 together with both missing multiple games because of injuries. The Mavericks won their first two games with Irving but went 7-18 the rest of the way and couldn’t even make the play-in tournament a year after reaching the ...

Published Fri, 21 Feb 2025 18:13:30 GMT

The Chicago Bulls brought in their first new player of the summer when NBA free agency opened Friday, signing guard Jevon Carter to a three-year deal, according to a report by ESPN.After two seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks, Carter hit the free agency market after declining his player option. He reportedly signed a $20 million deal with the Bulls. For the Bulls, Carter fills a wide variety of needs facing the roster this offseason. Carter shot 42.1% from behind the arc last season and took 4.2 attempts per game off the bench — a number that would have placed him third overall on the Bulls roster. This signing w...
